Andrej Dúbravský brings together nature and nightlife, bees and young men, myth and the present. For Monopol, the Slovak painter has created seven unique works – cut-outs from larger canvases that offer intimate glimpses into his compelling visual world.
Born in Slovakia in 1987, Andrej Dúbravský is one of the most talented painters in contemporary art – in July 2023, Monopol dedicated a cover story to him. Dúbravský is as much at home in New York’s queer scene as he is in his house in the Slovak countryside, where he maintains his studio, practices ecological gardening and creates habitats for insects. Bees and other pollinators move through his paintings just as much as erotic young men, part faun, part creature of the night.
The edition for Monopol was also created at Dúbravský’s rural residence. It comprises seven originals – cut-outs from larger canvases, with the traces of the cuts deliberately left visible. Each work is priced at €3,210 (gross), plus a flat shipping fee of €160 (gross), or €15 (gross) for packaging in the case of collection.
UPDATE: This edition is sold out.
