For over 30 years, the artist, who has long held a firm place among colour painters, has been developing her pictorial language of seemingly monochrome painting step by step. We look forward to seeing hernew works at and three paintings by her artist friends.
Christiane Conrad works according to nature.
At first glance, this does not seem to harmonise with the artist's monochrome painting. One is more likely to think of a colour laboratory far removed from everyday life.
In fact, the subtle nuances that Christiane Conrad is interested in doindeed require a remote concentration
and calculated colour mixtures. There is no need to look outside.
The meditative mood of her paintings emerges from within. What's more, with her square or mostly slightly vertical format and always vertically structured paintings, the artist consciously distances herself from any reference to landscape and even more so from figurative elements.
