CURTAIN CALL - Hannah Bohnen
We are pleased to invite you to the opening of Curtain Call, the second solo exhibition of Hannah Bohnen with the gallery, on 10. April.
Hannah Bohnen’s work unfolds at the threshold where movement has not yet settled into form - and where form is already beginning to dissolve. The body remains its point of departure: a site of memory and resistance, shaped by the discipline of dance and the experience of its interruption. What emerges are not gestures as such, but their afterimage - lines, folds, tensions that belong to the instant in which control gives way to instability.
Her materials are not simply shaped, but tested. Porcelain, glass, steel, and surface register a process driven to its limit: weight, repetition, resistance. The works resist resolution; they sustain a condition of suspension, holding something in place that cannot be fully fixed. They are condensed durations - forms that persist, yet never entirely settle.
Curtain Call does not signal an ending, but an intensification (a theatrical term for the moment when the curtain rises again and the performers return to receive the audience’s applause): the precise instant before release, when effort, doubt, and persistence gather once more. What becomes visible is not the conclusion, but the charged state that precedes it - the fragile equilibrium from which form emerges.
We look forward to welcoming you for this occasion.
The artist will be present.
