Julia Gruner completed her studies of Fine Art at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, Germany in the class of Prof. Katharina Grosse in 2015. She received scholarships for residencies in the UK (2019), South Korea (2018), Iceland (2016) and Japan (2015) and won awards like the Young Artist Award of GWK – Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Westfälischen Kulturarbeit e.V (2016), the Award for emerging artists from the city of Düsseldorf, Germany (2015) and a working grant from Stiftung Kunstfonds, Germany (2022). In her works she uses paint as flexible material, playing with Trompe-l’œil in objects, photography and video.
