We look very much forward to our upcoming solo show Mechanical Drawings by American artist Jeff Davis, opening Thursday, June 09 from 6-9 pm.
Mechanical Drawings is a series of large-format generative drawings executed with a plotter using colored pencils. The algorithm at the heart of this new work series generates grids of color mixtures between a defined set of colors. The positions and orientations of these regions vary across each composition. Balancing mathematical precision with the unpredictability of pigment, paper, and process, the series explores where digital systems meet the material qualities of traditional drawing.
