Naqsh Raj is an artist, educator and mother currently teaching in the Department of Art and Design at Nottingham Trent International College. She holds a Master's degree in Fine Arts from the prestigious National College of Arts, Lahore. In Pakistan, Naqsh taught art at Comsats University, Islamabad for ten years.
Naqsh believes in the intimate connection between visual aesthetics and ethics, which are in a constant process of reform. Her ongoing works are a marriage of mechanical and manual painting methods through a repetitive and mundane technique of making prints with simple tools. Possessing an empty space through relentless effort is her main interest, and embracing imperfection is a natural part of her current art practice.
The exhibition is part of the project "summer of painting" (art in Stuttgart and surroundings) and is described in the catalogue.
