Wonkun Jun - Farbe auf Papier
Just as in his previous paintings, Wonkun Jun leaves the lower part of the picture free, while in the upper area the structures are increasingly superimposed. The colour palette of his watercolours is limited to the primary colours red, yellow and blue as well as their complementary contrasts green, purple and orange, although the colours are also mixed if necessary. In his watercolours he often works wet on wet, so that the shapes blur at the edges. The pale underpainting gives his colour circles a floating character: it seems as if they are only temporarily in this place and could join together at any time to form new formations. The meandering bands of colour also move through the picture, with new structures constantly growing from the upper third of the picture. Common to all the watercolours is the free handling of the basic geometric structures: in his raster paintings, for example, Jun dispenses with uniform spacing and line thickness, so that the eye can always discover new structures.
