Achenbach Hagemeier is pleased to present an exhibition of works on canvas by A.R. Penck (1939–2017), one of the greatest artists to come from post-war Germany whose approach to European painting was both drastic and extraordinary. Regularly linked with the leading German painters of his time, including Sigmar Polke, Anselm Kiefer, Markus Lüpertz and Jörg Immendorff, Penck’s work was equally characteristic and pioneering. Presenting works dating back from 1983 up to 2005, the exhibition focuses on a very important phase, bringing together over two decades of painting.
