Jan Pleitner's color-intensive, abstract paintings are created in an excessive painting process and often in a short time, with jerky lines that draw the eye up and down the canvas and make the focus jump. His physical approach to painting allows him to scratch through multiple layers of paint as easily as he builds them up, resulting in a very tactile and energetically charged canvas. The exhibition presents works from the last 15 years.
Jan Pleitner (*1984 in Oldenburg) studied at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf with Jörg Immenforff and Tal R and lives in East Frisia. His first institutional solo exhibition will open at Kunsthalle Emden on May 6, 2023.
