Solange Pessoa works with various mediums such as sculptures, installations, painting, drawing, ceramics and videos. She makes reference to nature and finds primal creativity in the cycle of life, often using organic materials for her works, such as earth, moss, wax, leather, blood or feathers. At the Venice Biennale 2022, she used a garden at the exit of the Arsenale to set a number of her soapstone sculptures on the lawn. The white, velvety soft stones evoke ancient, archetypal forms like prehistoric stone drawings and shell fossils.
